LIFE ON CAMPUS

Throughout the year, Auburn’s campus hosts a variety of concerts, cultural and sporting events, international festivals, and art exhibits. Amid classes and studying, students can join student organizations or perhaps participate in an intramural sports team. In their free time, students can stroll around campus with friends, picnic in the Davis Arboretum (a 13.5-acre nature preserve on campus), or gather their books for an outdoor study session.

Campus Recreation oversees programming across Auburn’s recreational areas. The 240,000-square-foot Recreation and Wellness Center offers a 1/3-mile indoor track, two 50-foot rock climbing walls, a PGA golf simulator, cardio and strength equipment, personal training and group fitness classes, a bike shop, an outdoor equipment rental center, a 40-person hot tub, and a leisure pool. The Recreation and Wellness Center is also where students participate in intramural sports games and matches.

The campus supports multiple security measures, including an extensive closedcircuit surveillance system, the nightly Public Safety security shuttle, blue light emergency phones, and contracted security personnel.

In the event of an emergency situation, AU ALERT (Auburn University’s official emergency alert system) provides information on appropriate actions to students, faculty, and staff via voice, e-mail, text messages, social media, and other methods. Students can choose how they receive notification.

Tiger Transit services include, but are not limited to: fixed routes, night transit, paratransit, and a Friday night shopping shuttle. Students must register their vehicles to park in designated lots on campus. Students can also utilize alternative modes of transportation, including ride share and bike share programs.
